Speaker 1 (00:02):
The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com
and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
This is Girls Talk Boys Talk, presented by Invisi Line,
trusted by over five hundred NFL players for their winning smiles,
and broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star.
Now your host, Nicole Hutchison.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Hello, Cowboys Nation, Welcome in a Girls Talk Boys Talk
presented by in Visi Line. Here in the SWBC studio,
I'm Nicole Hutchinson, alongside Ayisha Morrison.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
We've got Justina burs.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
And we got Brion Aldridge in studio. Come, of course,
to talk about the.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Free agency that's happening right now. The latest Cabante Turpin.
Can we talk about it.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
He's finalizing or coming into a close onto a three year,
eighteen million dollar deal to be the highest paid special
teams player in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (01:07):
Yep?

Speaker 6 (01:08):
Yep?

Speaker 4 (01:09):
Can we just talk about how much.

Speaker 7 (01:10):
He deserves it?

Speaker 4 (01:11):
Yep?

Speaker 6 (01:13):
I'm stoked. I'm stoked. Look, I was nervous.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
Let me say I was nervous because seeing how things
went yesterday, I was like, oh, I just have to
temper my expectations a lot. But I am glad that
they had enough cap space, enough wiggle room to get
Cavante Turpin paid, but also paid a very very well
deserved amount. Who else is doing anything better on special

(01:38):
teams than Cavante Turpin, literally nobody. So give him the
money he deserves, give him a payday and he's earned it.
And I think also this solidifies you're finally gonna get
to see him in a well deserved wide receiver position.
I'm excited, happy news, happy news after yesterday.

Speaker 7 (01:57):
Agreed, Agreed, I think it's shaped to be.

Speaker 8 (02:01):
It's exciting because, like you said, the special teams, they're
putting the emphasis on it right, they're retaining We didn't
really know what it was going to look like with
bones leaving, so it's exciting to see they're keeping some
of those pieces.

Speaker 7 (02:10):
Obviously Turpin is a big piece of that.

Speaker 8 (02:11):
But picking back off what Jess said, this is something
that brings a little relief because he is a pass catcher.
He showed glimpses of it. It was almost like frustration
at some parts of the season because like, oh my gosh,
he just did this.

Speaker 7 (02:23):
He's getting involved. Why are they not utilizing him more?

Speaker 8 (02:27):
So, very excited to see how this looks in the
shoddy era, if you will. And then also one thing
that I was hoping for in this free agency, which
I kind of was feeling wasn't going to happen, But
there's been so much talks this last season.

Speaker 7 (02:38):
Who's gonna help Seede Lamb on that other side?

Speaker 8 (02:41):
So this just shows where that is not going to go,
but where it is going to go the same time,
if that makes sense. So yeah, shout out to him
to get his bag and he's here and he's staying
and love to see it.

Speaker 7 (02:51):
Yeah, I agree with the I hate using this word,
but the continuity that they're trying to keep on the
special team side of things. But looking forward to what
the offense might become and how Clayton Adams likes to
run the ball. We got to see a little bit
more of Cavante turf and coming out of the backfield,
things like that. I would like to see how he
incorporates him into the intermediate game and see if they

(03:12):
can get some good receiving options for him as well there.
I'm also looking forward to him having the opportunity as
a guy that is still developing as a wide receiver
to have the coaching from junior Adams that we'll be
coaching a wide receivers this year. We've seen him have
success with a plethora of different receivers, different body types,
different skill set. So him getting in here and having

(03:33):
that opportunity as well. But most importantly, the I always
get the mix up is USFL.

Speaker 6 (03:42):
It's UFL.

Speaker 7 (03:43):
So okay they merged, Okay, they merged, thank you for
correcting me. But the UFL to NFL pipeline and that
this is becoming I think it is smart. It's good
for guys to see that sometimes your your career can
be derailed, you can have injuries, you can have things happen.
But he is a testat to other players that if
you do put in the work and things like that,

(04:04):
people will recruit, they'll see you, they'll scout you, and
that you can have contracts in the NFL, that you
can revive your career here. So I think what he's
doing is it should be encouraging for maybe some younger
players or other players that have had those type of
things happen to them as well.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
And now Special teams coordinator Nick Sorenson probably has the easiest,
i'd say little job here because he's got Trent Ceek
who just agreed to a three year, four point four
to five million dollar deal that includes three point one
million guaranteed Kuching. He's got Brandon Aubrey of course returning,
Brian Anger returning, CJ. Goodwin, So the core good Win

(04:42):
with the special Win. He's got the core of a
special teams unit back, so we'll hear.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
So that's that's some good news for him.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
But switching over, just give it a little update on
what the Cowboys have done so far in free agency
before we split it up and talk about the offense,
and we'll in our next segment will break down defensively
the new editions and who has.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
Left the addition.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
So far, we've got running back Javonte Williams Okay, offensive lineman,
Rob Jones, defensive tackles, Solomon Thomas returning. So far, we've
got OsO, Diggy Zuas, c J. Goodwin, je Ye Thomas,
brock Hoffman, Tyres Sweet, Marquise Bell ring the bell, Trentcy Cavante, Turpin,

(05:24):
and then the losses.

Speaker 7 (05:26):
I wish we had like.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
My local little sound effect on this one because it's
kind of sad.

Speaker 7 (05:31):
A little funeral.

Speaker 8 (05:32):
Jordan Lewis morning, we need like something.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
There we go Jordan Lewischdoga and Chauncey gold Sting. Like
I said, talk about the offense first, new editions, uh,
and the losses.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
We'll start with Javonte Williams.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
He just signed a one year, three million dollars deal
that can move up to three point five million dollars
with incentives.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
What are y'all think?

Speaker 3 (06:01):
I guess caught the eye of the cowboys because when
you talk about ric o'dowdell, he obviously proved that he
deserved to be back here in Dallas. Uh, it's unfortunate
that he's not because of the way that he overcame
so much.

Speaker 7 (06:14):
Are we sure? Are we sure that that's what.

Speaker 6 (06:19):
It feels like? But that's fair impossible.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
But as of right now, it looks does not seem like.

Speaker 7 (06:30):
Ric o'dowdell will be back.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Like I was saying, it's unfortunate because he overcame so
much in terms of like injuries, uh, playtime, uh and
having to battle with you know, Zeke, Tony Pollard, Malie.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Davis at one point.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
So uh, best of luck to him if he does
not return here in Dallas.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
But yeah, just thoughts on Javonte Williams. What do you
feel like caught the eye of the Cowboys?

Speaker 8 (06:53):
Got that?

Speaker 7 (06:53):
Okay, because you want.

Speaker 6 (06:54):
Me to be the price the price tag, that's what.

Speaker 7 (07:00):
Ful that I do it.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
But I mean, let's let's be honest here, Bree Odaldo
outpriced himself to stay Dallas, and that that was something
we we knew was probably likely going into this season,
and with the deep running back draft class that's about
to come up, he kind of just saw it coming.
This was such a Cowboys move because it was it

(07:24):
was cheap. It's not really gonna do much to you
except give you a good running back competition. You're likely
still going to draft a running back in the early rounds,
so at this point too, it's.

Speaker 7 (07:35):
Not that's just literally what you guys.

Speaker 6 (07:38):
Yeah, that's that's what it is.

Speaker 5 (07:39):
It's your averaging averaging three point seven yards per carry,
have receiving tendencies, however, just not the same after that
ACL injury. You know, takes about a year or two
years to get back to a groove, a new normal
for you after that. We've seen that here, We've experienced
that with players here as well. Yeah, it was a
very Cowboys esque move, so wasn't surprised, but honestly, running

(08:03):
back room competition seems like another fun way.

Speaker 6 (08:06):
To spend our training camp.

Speaker 7 (08:07):
Yeah, no, what you got.

Speaker 6 (08:09):
I have a question?

Speaker 7 (08:10):
How old it go?

Speaker 4 (08:11):
Twenty seven?

Speaker 5 (08:12):
Right?

Speaker 7 (08:13):
I think he's twenty seven eight?

Speaker 9 (08:18):
While you check that that's not about right, He's still
young and running back years for sure. Twenty six okay,
and not a lot of traction on his body given
that he has had to sit multiple years for him.

Speaker 7 (08:28):
Yes, yes, he has better years ahead of it.

Speaker 8 (08:30):
And I feel like I will say the first thing
besides the money, okay, we the boy, what was it?

Speaker 7 (08:36):
Three mil three?

Speaker 8 (08:41):
So twenty four years old, youngest running back free agent
that was available.

Speaker 7 (08:45):
I'll put that there. Twenty four years old. Right.

Speaker 8 (08:48):
I'm a little biased only in the fact that I
was actually covering the Denver Broncos the year that he
was drafted, and the hype was real when the man
hit the field. I believe Melvin Gordon was his biggest
You know, Melvin Gordon had a lot of fumbling issues, right,
I remember Jontay Williams did not. Yeah, So he was
exciting in the way. He was a violent, violent runner,

(09:12):
like very physical five to ten guy, not the hugest guy,
but you couldnt tell. Like I saw him man handle
big boys and getting the yardage. He almost hit that
one thousand markets rookie season. Now, I was heartbroke when
he did the following season, the ACL that was twenty
twenty two, seeing players myself recovered, you know, I don't

(09:37):
have the trainers. It does take effect and it does
take time, but I think being that it was twenty
twenty two, I think it's low risk.

Speaker 7 (09:46):
If you will.

Speaker 8 (09:48):
What did Zeke make the same right, came in here
and did not much.

Speaker 7 (09:52):
No disrespect last season, right, So I.

Speaker 8 (09:55):
Think Javonte Williams. To me, initially, I'm like, dang poor Rico.
Same thing, like not confirmed again, but in my mind
that lets me know what the direction that they're going in.
I also think that the only reason why I'm not
totally like Rico's gone is because he's not picked up yet.

Speaker 5 (10:12):
Right.

Speaker 8 (10:12):
I think the the Jordan Lewis went a lot faster
than because Cowboys were pretty prominent that they wanted him back,
and trying to wasn't the priority because there's other things
they had to take care of. But the fact that
Rico hasn't been taken up. I think Rico wants to
be the number one running back. I don't know where
Rico's going to get that number one running back role.

(10:33):
So with that being said, if his price goes down
and hitting the market doesn't always work out, I've seen
other players, like.

Speaker 7 (10:40):
I remember when I was covering.

Speaker 8 (10:42):
Jordan Poyd, like there was so much hype that he
was gonna go and get paid. He did not, and
he ended up staying and it was like a surprise
to everyone right at the end, right before the draft.
But I think it's gonna be interesting. Like I said,
I'm a little biased because I remember, like the hype.
I've seen what he can do when he's healthy. Like
Jess said, he's not completely one hundred percent. Don't know
if it was a scheme thing in Denver. Looking at

(11:02):
the numbers last year, five hundred and thirteen yards for
a touchdown, one hundred and thirty nine carries, I know.

Speaker 7 (11:06):
It's not very exciting.

Speaker 8 (11:08):
The Coways haven't made a splash move yet, so well,
maybe they do, but I think he could be a
good one two punch ahead.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
I went back to listen to what Brian Schottenheimer had said,
and he had said, this is what I'm like to
say word for word, just so like nobody thinks. Okay, anyways,
he says, you want to guy. You want a guy.

Speaker 7 (11:27):
That's got vision.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
You want a guy that's got contact balance, Whether there's
a free safety in the whole, there's a linebacker, defensive
lineman coming off at the point of attack, you have
to have a guy that's willing to run the run
through the arm tackles. And I think it goes back
to what you had mentioned. He's physical, he's a violent runner,
and that's maybe something that caught the eye of Shoddy.
But comparing him to Rico, first off, the Broncos had.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
One of the best offensive lines in the NFL last year.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Bo Nicks was had the fifth highest time to throw
three point oh three seconds, their pressure was twenty eight
point three percent, and they were tied for third the
least sacks allowed with twenty four and he was still
not able to run the ball effectively in my opinion,
Javonte Williams, you said it just three point seven yards
per carry when you compare him to Rico, o'dowdell and
the issues that the Cowboys had last year, which was

(12:16):
quarterbacks obviously, with the injuries with Dak Prescott and the
offensive line injuries there as well in consistencies and twenty
twenty four Joontay Williams forced point one two five missed
tackles per attempt Rico point one to nine forced miss
tackles per attempt, and that was with quarterback issues.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
So I just don't understand why you need to just
keep Rico.

Speaker 7 (12:42):
I'm not gonna lie to you.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
I think you would have been able to continuously build
off of what he already did in twenty twenty four
rather than have to bring in someone who, Yeah, he's younger,
he's probably got fresher legs, but Rico's just hit his
best career, had his best career at twenty six, So like,
why not give him a chance to build off of that.

Speaker 7 (13:01):
Yeah, I think they should keep them both.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Will they afford will they Are they willing to pay
for both of them?

Speaker 7 (13:07):
That's the quest. I mean, Davante is not making enough tour.
I feel like signing Rico should be an issue, and
then going and drafting another back number one, You're gonna
need guys in training camp, as you mentioned before. Just anyway,
but there is positivity and having different styles of runners
as well. There's one thing that I think Rico Dado
does fantastically, and again going back to Clayton Adams and

(13:29):
some of the things he likes to do a running
back that you can use in the passing game now
is to me is the mismatch nightmare for defenses to
deal with. And if you look within the draft and
you look at the running back class, it's almost becoming
a necessity that you have to have some type of
receiving qualities as a running back. Rico Dado already has

(13:51):
a natural feel for the screen game. He always already
shown us that he can do some receiving things. Pairing
him with the Javonte Williams, who is the bruiser, who
is you know, a guy that is to bring down
runs with a lot of grit, I think will be beneficial.
And then getting the youngin in here from the draft
as well. You want some versatility in your running back room.
But as far as with Gervonte Williams, I mean we

(14:11):
talked about it. If he got injured in twenty twenty
two and he came back with twenty twenty three. So
last year was his first season back or was that
his second season back? Second? Okay, because for me, when
I was looking at the Broncos and I'm looking at
how they stylistically like to run the ball, this isn't
a guy that has a lot of wiggle. He is
not super shifty. He is a downhill runner, and so

(14:33):
I personally thought that the way that they were running
the ball wasn't conducive to some of the things he
does well. Also too with Bo Nicks. Bo Nicks is
a gunslinger, and you could tell that the Broncos wanted
to were intentional with wanting to pass the ball more. Also, too,
they're behind in a lot of games, so we ain't
got time to be running the ball, so I wanted
to take the time to look within the numbers and

(14:54):
look within like what they'd like to do. I think
that impeded on some of his stuff as well. I mean,
being two years removed from an a c L. We know
now that a cls are not career enders for running
backs anymore. So I want to give him the opportunity
to revive his career and revive the things that he does.
But I really do think with the Broncos, there was
an they wanted to emphasize passing the ball. I feel

(15:17):
like they saw that that was what they were Their
bread was buttered. So yes, their offensive line is fantastic,
but this wasn't to me. What they were doing didn't
fit him. But I will say, he's not a guy
that's going to break off a lot of long runs.
He is just going to wear people down. And I
one thing that I am looking at is a lot
of his power that he generates is from his lower half.

(15:38):
He has very strong legs to be able to drive
and run through contact. So with him coming off of
an a cl I want to see, well him come
He's been off the SEO, but I want to see
if he still has that power and his legs to
drag defenders, to fight through contact, to continue to fall forward.
And then I think from there we can we can
move forward and everything. But I want to see a

(15:59):
little bit more of him in give him the chance.
I want them to have them both personally.

Speaker 6 (16:04):
Well, that'd be nice, that'd be nice.

Speaker 8 (16:07):
Well, but realistically I think it depends what he's asking for.

Speaker 7 (16:12):
But if Rico doesn't have much of a market.

Speaker 5 (16:14):
I don't really know if it's money as much as
it is time frame because if you're Rico, are you
going to want to pick up a one or two
year deal as compared to a maybe three year like
I think that could probably be an arguing point to
what could be the issue. Not so much price, because
you can argue like, hey, you only had one good
year so far here. You know you're not going to

(16:34):
get as much money as you want as much as
it could be time frame and amount of time on
the contract.

Speaker 7 (16:39):
And does he want to be here? That's a fact.
And does Rico want to be here? I mean, we
don't know. He's had an interesting experience, to say the
least being here. And these guys have pride, they play
with pride, and to not offer it right away, yeah, big,
I think that's that could have been the smooth it
out right, Like, Okay, we messed up last season.

Speaker 8 (17:00):
We played you a little bit with the running back committee,
and you prove yourself and you hit this mark and
you put on for the draft of free agents, and
we're gonna make you wait until closer to the draft
so we.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
Can see what the boys look like after everything Rico
is endured during his time as a cowboy, and not
even that it even goes beyond that. You're talking injury
after injury getting a chance. Oh nope, just kidding and
just constantly in a way being led on. And that's
just the reality of what his journey has been. And
you know, he broke out of the injury prone kind

(17:34):
of what reputation he had, and then he goes beyond that,
does everything to make sure he's healthy. And to your point, Brie,
he goes back and oh, running back by committee, Oh,
Ezekiel Elliott's going to be your starting running back when
there was no production and Rico was clearly should have
been named your running.

Speaker 6 (17:51):
Back one from training camp.

Speaker 5 (17:53):
There's just been a lot of uh, I think background
politics they go into it.

Speaker 6 (17:59):
So to your point, yeah, does he want to be here?

Speaker 7 (18:02):
Would you?

Speaker 3 (18:03):
It also makes me wonder now, like, even if Rico's
not here, will they go with this running back by committee?

Speaker 5 (18:09):
They should never do rat They should never shouldn't. It
doesn't work.

Speaker 6 (18:14):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (18:15):
I don't care what team it is, I don't care
who's on the roster. Just pick a running back and
that's your running back one.

Speaker 6 (18:22):
Like that's that's fair. It's it was.

Speaker 5 (18:26):
In my opinion, it was just too much nonsense back
and forth when you could have been productive in figuring
out how to get cohesiveness with your running game.

Speaker 8 (18:35):
Like it was, it's what you do when you don't
have faith in your running back. So once Rico started
to emerge, that's what the frustration was. Well, we, yeah,
everybody could see who it is. When I say everybody
every trophy, that's when you don't really know who the
MVP is. Well, once it's clear, you have to start
and it like it's a respect thing at the same time,

(18:55):
So a lot of questions on the Rico thing. I
wouldn't be surprised if he stays, but also wouldn't be,
you know, surprise.

Speaker 7 (19:02):
It's fifty fifty in my mind right now.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Let's switch over to the offensive lineman who was brought
over here from the Miami Dolphins for a one year
worth up to four point seventy five million dollars in
twenty twenty four.

Speaker 4 (19:14):
He started off seventeen.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
Games that left guard, allowed five sacks, twenty eight pressures
on over one thousand snaps, and he's also played right guard.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
As well, so a bit of a.

Speaker 7 (19:25):
Flex guard there at that position.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
First thoughts, what do y'all think he can bring to
this offensive line anybody.

Speaker 7 (19:31):
Depth all right depth, I mean especially to with Hoffman
battling for the starting center position. That does take that
that that element of knowing that you know, Hoffman can
play right guard, left guard, things like that. That takes
it out of it because he's I think he is
going to be No no, no, no, yeah no, I'm mixing up.

(19:53):
Yeah no, no, no, no, my bad. It's Hoffman is going
to be starting at right guard.

Speaker 6 (19:58):
We got I mean, hey, you have a guy.

Speaker 7 (20:00):
Yeah, I as of right now, he's starting the right guard.
So you're just adding another death piece that can be
a swing. Obviously, you still have TJ. Bass. He dealt
with a quad injury last year, so I wonder how
serious his quad injury was or what his rehab is like.
I would like to know his timeline in reference to this.
But I took a couple of notes of a lot
more film to watch on Robert Jones than some of

(20:21):
these other guys. I said, when he's on, and he's on,
when he's off, he's off. He plays with good power,
with initial contact, he has a pretty good latch, and
he seals pretty well. But the problem is the issues
come in with the pressures when his feet are a
little slow out of his stance, and that's where he
has some issues as well. So hopefully this offensive line coach,

(20:42):
this offensive line can work together and kind of maybe
get his his firing off the ball a little bit better.
But he does play with some strength, and yeah, that's
really all that I have on him right now. I
don't see I don't necessarily see like a starter right now,
but I do see a death piece that come in
and help you if necessary in a pinch, and and

(21:03):
obviously make sure there's still competition in that room with
you ladies. Got let me Oh go.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
Ahead, sorry, yeah, go ahead. Just depth, I'm like, and
that's really that's good you need.

Speaker 5 (21:16):
Yes, you see how quickly injuries can happen on the
offensive line just in general. But yeah, to your point,
I mean, it just gives good, good competition, good healthy,
friendly competition for right guard, which is so weird to say,
like as covering the Cowboys, so weird to be like,
oh we don't have a solid right guard. That's so
weird getting used to that. But yeah, I mean he's

(21:39):
an he's interior depth. One year, four point seventy five million.

Speaker 6 (21:43):
That's a good deal.

Speaker 7 (21:46):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (21:46):
Something else I wanted to point out too, is without Tuma,
I think Awesome Richards becomes your swing tackle. That's something
else I wanted to bring up, and that's that's your
guy because you've seen the progression and the growth within
Awesome Richards, so I kind of want to see how
he fits into that too. Is maybe not just a swing.
I mean, it's it's good O line competition all around.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Really.

Speaker 7 (22:07):
I think it's important with Awesome, Sorry, Bree. I think
it's important with Awesome because I am looking for the
Cowboys to show that they can develop mid round talent
and not just go to the top and rely on
those top guys. Being those top guys, We've seen Austin
Richards developed through this time, and if he's your swing,

(22:28):
that's fine. But I also too, I'm gonna keep an
eye out on if Dallas does continue and maybe bring
in a tackle in free agency, because if they don't,
I believe it's gonna tell me a little bit about
what they think about. Nathan Thomas out of Louisiana, who
did not get to play last year. I think he
was dealing with some type of foot stress thing or
something like that through the year they put him on

(22:50):
IR they just said, hey, Bertie, take a seat. But
when you looked at his college tape, I was impressed
by him. I was impressed by his run blocking. I
was impressed by his ability to get upfield. And so
I'm really looking at because tackle you have interior depth. Now,
I think I think that baby, that's enough unless they
decide to go grab another person later in the draft
of the baby, that's enough tackle because Terrence still can't

(23:13):
miss a snap at all. Yeah, Terrence still can't miss
a snap. Left tackle was a rotating door. But we
don't have a backup right tackle right now or anyone
that can do that. Maybe it's awesome, whatever the case
may be. I want to keep an eye out on
if they attack getting a tackle, it's gonna I think
I'll be looking for Nathan Thomas in training.

Speaker 10 (23:31):
Count Do y'all think that these two moves proves that
the Cowboys are trying to run the football With these
two editions and Javonte Williams and Robert Jones, do you.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
Feel like that's kind of helping the narrative of Brian
Schottenheimer's of their trying to run the football effectively?

Speaker 7 (23:48):
What you got Listard, ask the question, I know how
I feel about running the ball.

Speaker 8 (23:53):
Right when we picked who stays mine was Rico, So
this conversation is interested to me, I will say that
is I know we haven't got to the defensive player
that we've had in a free agency. There's three total, right,
These are all in the Is this part of the
selectively aggressive? I don't know, right, because I still don't
know what that means. But I will say these are

(24:15):
all pieces who are not starters right off the bat
twenty twenty five. These are all added pieces. This is
all depth which you need when you are rebuilding a roster.
I don't care what the Cowboys said last year they
were rebuilding and in denial. Now it's rebuilding, rebuilding from
coaching staff to the roster, and honey, you need bodies. Right,

(24:36):
if we started a game today, you're looking at, in
my opinion, Tyler got in, Tyler Smith, Cooper Bebe Brockoff,
and Terrence Steele.

Speaker 7 (24:42):
This is a guy.

Speaker 8 (24:43):
When we're going back to Robert Jones seventeen games at
left guard, he played right guard and in college right tackle,
So to me, he can kind of get in where
you fit it, right, That's what I'm missed. So that's
the only thing I see of him. And also my
favorite thing who doesn't have to do a lot of
what we're talking about reps is the undrafted free agent

(25:03):
road twenty twenty one. That man had to work his
tail off to get in the league and stay on
the league, in the league and make that fifty three
man roster and he's still here in the conversation in
twenty twenty five. So to me, that is a story
in itself that tells me he's a guy that you
want and he's not gonna make it worse. He might
make it better just by those leadership in that worth ethic,

(25:24):
and I think with the young o line ish a
veteran in here, that is gonna help.

Speaker 7 (25:31):
And it's not expensive.

Speaker 8 (25:32):
Those two guys that we just talked about four mil
a little over four three million.

Speaker 7 (25:37):
You just got two players for under eight million dollars.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
All Right, we're gonna take our first riak uh very
rack with more girls talk, boys talk, and we're gonna
break down some additions and losses for the Cowboys defensively.
Right after the break. We'll be right back.

Speaker 11 (25:54):

The Cowboys have lost. Go ahead and queue the music.

Speaker 3 (28:29):
Cowboys, you been the exit, the very own the exit.
Jordan Lewis, we need to keep it chawing jazzy because
it's much needed.

Speaker 6 (28:42):
Keep it on repeat, repeat.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
Jordan Lewis is now off to the Jacksonville Jaguars to
be the highest paid Nicol cornerback in the NFL.

Speaker 7 (28:53):
As he should.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
As he should, all right, But the Cowboys have and
added a new defensive tackle, Solomon, to a two year,
eight million dollar deal. He is a former Jets defensive
tackle obviously has a relationship with Ericon White Cotton, former
player under him. Talking about this new edition, Cowboys needed
depth at defensive tackle.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
We talked about it on the show plenty of times.
What does this new edition mean, ladies, I'll start with.

Speaker 7 (29:21):
Well, first of all, they love bringing people back to Texas.
Are you from here? We had Dallas Day ten years ago.
Come on down, bring.

Speaker 4 (29:32):
It back.

Speaker 6 (29:34):
Ten years ago.

Speaker 4 (29:34):
Y'all are sick?

Speaker 7 (29:37):
No no, no, no, no. I mean so the sentiment I
saw some people were excited about this, picking it as
someone that looked in the same camera and say you
ain't got no dds. I mean, go ahead and do
what you're doing. Add to there as much as you can.
But another rotational piece I am what I'm trying to
figure out is where he lines up. Seeing him line
up inside, seeing him line up outside. I think he's

(29:59):
more of a three tech. I think he does more
of Osa esque type things and not Osa. But but
the past Russian ability is what I think is his
bread and butter. He is less of a he's less
of a one tech, and I don't think he has
a very strong anchor. I would not be asking this
man to take on double teams consistently and thinking that

(30:22):
he's gonna be able to hold them consistently. He is
someone that I think is gonna be able to get upfield,
be a little disruptive on a twist, stunts things like that.
A lot of good feedback on his character sounds like
he's a high, high character person. So again, you're adding
another veteran to the locker room that is LinkedIn into
the community. Obviously, I know you're gonna talk about a
little bit more jazz, and I don't think that that's

(30:44):
a bad thing. I am still curious as to how
things are going to work out. But yeah, I wouldn't
be looking for him to back up Mazi more so
than what he would be backing up. Oh so DIGGI
zoo a put it like that. Still need a big
body in there?

Speaker 5 (31:02):
Yeah, yeah, I think he's always been knocked for his
size too.

Speaker 6 (31:05):
Yeah he's smaller.

Speaker 7 (31:06):
There he go body rolling on TV.

Speaker 5 (31:08):
Oh Bart, there he is look smaller for a DT
and so yeah, to your point, the anchor just is
not as sturdy as a bigger guy would be. But yeah,
I mean, look, anytime you can get depth, we were
just talking about that, that's a good thing, and veteran depth,
especially if you don't know what's happening with Tank. Yet

(31:30):
you're gonna need that veteran presence in the d line
room truly, And I think the way he goes about
being a leader, from what I've seen discussed about him
from former teammates or just press that would cover him.

Speaker 6 (31:44):
He's a He's a good addition to have to that
locker room.

Speaker 5 (31:46):
Y'all know, I love me, I love me some outside
things and what they're doing outside on the field. So
him and Dak Prescott actually have partnered before for mental
health awareness and suicide awareness. So I tweeted this earlier
when he's pricing him out in the DFW communities. He
went to Coppel High School, which is about twenty minutes
away from here, So to your point, they love themselves

(32:08):
a little hometown story.

Speaker 6 (32:09):
But it was cool to see.

Speaker 7 (32:10):
His Instagram post, Oh he's happy. He yeah.

Speaker 6 (32:13):
He and his.

Speaker 5 (32:14):
Family were calling it a full circle moment.

Speaker 6 (32:16):
They manifested this. He wanted this.

Speaker 5 (32:18):
So anytime you get a player that wants to be here,
come on in, Come on in, because you're taking on
a bigger load wearing that star than you are any
any other NFL team. So if you're prepared for that
and you're ready. I think he's a He's a solid edition.
So I'm interested to see the rotation in New York.

Speaker 7 (32:35):
Baby, Yeah, I'm meant to run some of the numbers.

Speaker 6 (32:37):
Do you want to talk about?

Speaker 8 (32:39):
I mean, just really what you guys were saying. I mean,
I said, I said it before we took the break.
These are all additional pieces. When I look at him,
it was nothing elite. Love the character, what he brings
to the locker room. But I what I said last
week is what the Cowboys were going to do is
they were going to get former high draft picks that
didn't work out for other teams. So this is a

(33:01):
man who went to San Francisco, played four seasons and
never reached that highest potential that he came out as
former thoro overall twenty seventeen, I believe, and just didn't
move up to the hype of the year in Vegas.
But he is coming off his best who just happens
to be the now Cowboys defensive lineman. So he does
have that relationship with Aaron.

Speaker 7 (33:21):
Kawhite Cotton.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
Aaron Cotton, Okay, I gotta you're gonna practice this.

Speaker 8 (33:26):
But exactly that's a lot of learning, But yeah, I
mean the familiarity there. You love what he brings, the
veteran he's not new to your point. As soon as
I saw it, I'm like, Okay, this gives Osa a break.
This isn't someone who's bringing what Osa brings, but it
gives him a break. Who's gonna keep it afloat, not
do too much damage until he comes back in.

Speaker 7 (33:45):
That's how I see it. And then it's big, but
also too with the we're gonna get it with the
loss of Chauncey Gold. He did also do some things
to people's standards undersize for a three tech type person,
interior person. I think it also to kind of shures
that up in that regarden.

Speaker 5 (34:04):
Yeah, it could also, like I just think ahead in
terms of future for these players. If you have somebody rotating,
like a rotational piece out for Osa, that could extend
the longevity of his career and his health as well.
So I always like that depth rotational piece where yeah,
you're not gonna see Osa type things, but you are
going to be able to see Osa kind of get
a break if he needs to, and that comes in

(34:25):
handy later on in the season. If you're talking playoffs,
you need health like it keeps everybody healthy and uh
just more able to play.

Speaker 6 (34:34):
Later on down the road.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
But do you feel like, okay, let's start with uh,
let's start with Solomon.

Speaker 7 (34:39):
Who do you feel like the winners is winners? Can
I not fo today?

Speaker 6 (34:43):
You can do?

Speaker 3 (34:44):
The winner is for this specific move? You feel like
the Cowboys won are lost with getting Solomon Thomas. We
don't know yet officially because of course he hasn't stepped
on the foot on the ask me, but let me
just off the what he's what he's bringing as of
right now? What do you do you feel like the
Cowboys want to lost with me?

Speaker 6 (35:05):
Yeah, you can. I'm gonna call it a win.

Speaker 5 (35:07):
Like I just said, if you can keep Osa as
healthy as possible, like you protect him, that is your
shining star right now on your D line. You need
to do whatever you can to protect him, get him depth,
get him rotational pieces, and also like you need a
veteran presence in that room. Yes, Osa is there and
he's kind of gonna become that, but you need one
of those vocal leaders, especially if you're not gonna have

(35:29):
Tank in that room anymore.

Speaker 6 (35:30):
You it's not a bad thing.

Speaker 5 (35:31):
I'm gonna say it's a win, and I like the
mental health advocacy as well.

Speaker 7 (35:35):
Can I cheat?

Speaker 13 (35:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 15 (35:36):
You can't?

Speaker 7 (35:37):
Wait?

Speaker 6 (35:37):
Hold up, no, how are you cheating?

Speaker 7 (35:39):
No? No, cheat, cheat cheat, I'm cheating that it's a
win because you have Aaron whit Cottenka that's what we've
seen aeron cheating. I'm saying. I'm saying that because I
think we've seen with Aaron White Cotton's time. I mean
you mentioned Brie that you know Solomon had his best
year under him. I think when you look at the
Jets defensive line in the way that they played ball,

(36:01):
he got the best out of them. And let me
tell you something, and they were on the field a
lot with that offense and for them to perform and
I think there was a bit of a drop off
last year, but the years prior that just defensive line
was want to be reckon with and that coaching. I
think getting a coaching here that knows how to pour
into different positions, but also to you see an uptick

(36:22):
in all of these guys play the guys that are
under him, I think that's where you win and that
will help Solomon win.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
I think that's that's what he talked about he gets
the passion out of those guys. Yeah, so I guess
that kind of plays the culture. Oh my god, Oh okay,
there all right, Davonte Williams.

Speaker 4 (36:45):
Do y'all think the Cowboys won or lost.

Speaker 7 (36:48):
With that move? I think this might be the biggest
win of doing I think I'm not down on this signing.
I think he got something to him. I think it.
I think it's a win if you or or go
get a nugget and pair him with him that.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Can instantly come in and make an impact, not just
no nugget that can, Yes, a nugget that's good.

Speaker 8 (37:13):
In this moment, the running back room didn't get worse.
That's how I'm looking at That's fair.

Speaker 5 (37:17):
Well, we don't know that though, if you but if
you had Rico, like I mean, I'm not even gonna argue.

Speaker 6 (37:25):
I'm not gonna argue about it.

Speaker 5 (37:26):
I I gotta see, I gotta see more CBD. Because also,
you don't know what this offense looks like right now.
So what I'm basing off in my head is a
Mike McCarthy offense, which should not look the same as
a shoddy offense. So I don't know you don't even
know if the run game is going to be what
we think it's going to be, because we've heard that
for two three years that the run game was gonna

(37:47):
get going and it didn't.

Speaker 6 (37:48):
So I don't know.

Speaker 7 (37:50):
I have some TVD I have some optimism about Clayton
Adams say, like TB there was one one first rounder
on that Cardinals offensive line, one of the most off
of fishing offensive lines. I think I just I think
he'll figure out ways to get him involved. But also
two guys the Broncos, y'all, Like we were talking about
the Broncos like they've been they haven't been. Both Nix

(38:12):
has revived them a little bit, but that offense, that
team has been in limbo for some years now. So
him getting a change of scenery, I'm a couple of
the games that I watched from him, I was like, Okay,
there he is.

Speaker 6 (38:22):
It's a win.

Speaker 7 (38:23):
I think it's a win.

Speaker 6 (38:24):
It's a win.

Speaker 7 (38:25):
I think it's win.

Speaker 4 (38:25):
Robert Jones, Huh.

Speaker 6 (38:27):
Depth, Hulu win, Depth is a win.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
I'm sick.

Speaker 6 (38:30):
We love depth. Depth is a win. No, I'm not
saying that this depth is a win. I didn't say
that depth is a luxury it's a win.

Speaker 4 (38:36):
All right, I'll I know. We're gonna take our second
break and girl Star Voice talking. Will be right back.

Speaker 6 (42:08):
Little fairy tale story book ending.

Speaker 7 (42:11):
Yes, it was beautiful. Never been to Miami before. There's
a lot of honking, lots of sun, lots.

Speaker 3 (42:18):
Of sun, and we enjoyed sweating. But it's all right
because it was worth it.

Speaker 7 (42:22):
We enjoyed it, absolutely worth it. There's bowels were beautiful.

Speaker 3 (42:27):
Getting to hear them just talk about, you know, their
love story was was pretty freaking awesome goals. Yeah right,
all right, rope, fast forward, we close the show, ladies.
All right now, the Cowboys still have quite a few needs.
Cornerback deepieas of end, running back hopefully the draft or
obviously bring back Rico o'dowdle linebacker, wide receiver. Which one

(42:51):
are you starting with first in this draft?

Speaker 6 (42:53):
Huh oh huh? Starting with first? Which one you which
is draft?

Speaker 4 (42:58):
A drafted and drafting drafting.

Speaker 7 (43:02):
Oh why are you? That's me?

Speaker 3 (43:04):
Which are your drafting first ladies?

Speaker 7 (43:08):
Anyone?

Speaker 6 (43:09):
Yeah, anyone.

Speaker 4 (43:10):
You gotta choose.

Speaker 7 (43:12):
It depends who's available.

Speaker 6 (43:13):
That's that's my thing.

Speaker 8 (43:14):
Like if I have I'm going B P A and
I ain't being Yeah, I'm not even mad they draft
a corner.

Speaker 6 (43:21):
Yeah, I would. I would love to see it.

Speaker 7 (43:23):
I would love to do you understand me. I love
it now that that what I've seen unfold.

Speaker 6 (43:28):
It's uh, I would love it.

Speaker 7 (43:30):
It's a need. That's a need. That's a need. That's
a need, and you don't want to be drafting for needs.
So I thought they need to do something. They need
to do something. In free agency.

Speaker 6 (43:38):
You know what they need to do. Person you have
more and money.

Speaker 7 (43:46):
I think I want to go. I want to go
skill position, No, I do either. Whether that's defense, I
wouldn't mind them picking up a defensive player. But I'm
also looking at I think the offensive side of the
ball is a little bit more short up, there's a
little bit less uncertainty there. I would like a running back.
I would like a wide receiver, please lord. But the

(44:07):
defensive side, baby is starting to look weary. Somebody do something.
It's real scary right now, Somebody do something. Just like
the injuries at the linebacker position, you do have your safeties.
I like that they brought back Juan Ye and Marquise Belles,
but the corner position, Baby durand Bland is gonna be
standing there. Like Will Smith in that one episode when

(44:29):

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
