Ladies, what's up?
Speaker 5 (00:44):
We match again?
Speaker 3 (00:45):
We did? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (00:46):
Happy Friday?
Speaker 5 (00:47):
We matched they did Tuesday.
Speaker 6 (00:49):
Yeah, didn't get the memo.
Speaker 5 (00:50):
We matched on Tuesday. I'm slipping in the polls.
Speaker 7 (00:53):
Wow, y'all didn't match?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Slipping in the polls?
Speaker 5 (00:55):
What do you mean? I'm I'm slipping?
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Why you said? Who said?
Speaker 7 (01:01):
Why are you slipping in the polls?
Speaker 5 (01:02):
Right?
Speaker 7 (01:03):
Why are you making me say that?
Speaker 5 (01:04):
First of all, that's crazy, crazy work, Huh. I'm not
slipping in the polls. I was saying that I wasn't
far with the outfit coordination, I.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
Mean technically because I got on sweats, got on.
Speaker 5 (01:18):
Yeah, that is true, So I'm slipping.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Sorry, ain't slipping slipping on your pimping?
Speaker 7 (01:24):
All right, I will not say that.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah, it's fine, it's fine. Don't think I want you
to say that at all. All right, Before we dive
into this matchup, Cowboys kickoff against the Commanders at noon
on Sunday, First we gotta show some love to Tyler Smith.
We haven't talked about him much all season long, so
I felt like it was only appropriate to do that
because one, of course, the last meeting against the Commanders,
(01:48):
the Cowboys offensive line had a lot of success. Hello,
Tyler Smith, huge part of that. And of course with
the Pro Bowls announced as well this week.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
So five boys are going to the Pro Bowl.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
That's Michael Parsons, Cee Lamb, Brandon Aubrey, Colante Turpin, and
Tyler Smith.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
What have you all just loved from Tyler Smith all
season long?
Speaker 6 (02:12):
His humility, his approach to the game. He's very studious
and love the way he is always accessible, talks to
the media and very respectful. But to do what he's
done at such a young age, I believe what first
guard to have two Pro Bowls by age twenty three?
That's incredible because in the trenches, that is a man's game,
(02:34):
and especially when you play the interior like that, unless
you're Aaron Donald on the other side of the ball,
who went to ten straight Pro Bowls coming out and
as a defensive tackle for the Rams, I mean, that
is a tough place to apply your craft. And I
love what he said about to the media on Thursday
(02:55):
about talking with Zach Martin and how Zach said that
you know, it's like the next step, right, and it's
a stare step for where you want to be in
your career. And I think that Tyler takes those lessons
truly to heart and follows it off the field and
on the field.
Speaker 7 (03:12):
He's coachable. He's such a coachable guy and he's so
pleasant to be around, you know, like you said, Christy,
for media, but also for teammates everybody.
Speaker 5 (03:21):
Like it's truly.
Speaker 7 (03:22):
Hard to find anything bad to say about Tyler Smith.
Even on his worst right, like during his worst games,
he's still putting his all out there, always putting in
an effort. He's always the guy that you see helping
his teammate up off the ground. Man, he has come
such a long way since his rookie season and it
has just been a joy to watch. So excited for him.
(03:44):
Two Pro Bowls so far and I feel like a
whole lots more to come. So congratulations.
Speaker 5 (03:50):
Now he's another one of those guys that gets the
I think we kind of talk about it with Micah Well,
we don't mention him as much because you expect him
to be to play well. And one thing that stands
out to me about you know, you talk about his
career so far as the consistency, and I think when
he spoke to Zach Martin, it's probably what Zach Martin
(04:12):
was speaking to him about is obviously you can play,
we know you can play. How consistent can you be?
And when you look at his past blocking numbers, when
you look at his run blocking numbers, it's every year
he is steady, eddy or he's getting better in certain places.
Coming into the league, I mean, the most penalized offensive
lineman in that draft, coming into the game, everyone was
worried about his hands. He's been nothing but to your point,
(04:35):
just and to your point, Christy coachable, flexible, very open
to do whatever he needs to be for the team.
And with this offensive line, he and Terrence still have
been the only constants. That's difficult to navigate, you know,
because that's a unit that's that unit is such an
important unit. Him being the constant and how and Terrence
still being the constant. It's hard. It's hard to be
(04:57):
the foundational player because they set the standard. Now he's
setting the standard. And I'm sure he takes seriously the
mantle kind of being passed and all those things. Oh yeah,
so oh no. So anyway, I'm really happy to see
his growth as well, ladies. And to your point, Christy,
they drafted him because your opponents in your division have
(05:20):
players on their interior that are good, and he's come
in and when you watch when they play a Jalen Carter,
when they play a Davis like he's, he's you never
can take those stars away. But those players would be
so much more impactful if you did not have a
guy like that to be able to go in there
and wrestle with them. So I'm very proud of him,
and I don't want to take him for granted. Like
(05:41):
you said, I'm glad you want to talk about him today.
Speaker 6 (05:43):
Yeah, And if I could just add one more thing,
because we haven't really talked about it, it hadn't gotten
much media attention since his rookie year, but seven years
ago he was in a hospital bed in Fort Worth
at age sixteen, diagnosed with Blunt's disease, which basically, you know,
they basically had to break his like it's bow leggedness, right,
and so had to do yeah, and so he's sixteen
(06:05):
years old and he couldn't even it's a pediatric hospital,
but he had to be on a grown person's table
because he was over three hundred pounds, you know, and
so and not even being able to play high school football,
and just you know, instead of feeling sorry for himself
for oh woe is me, you know, when he comes
back the next year and has a good season and
(06:28):
earns himself a college scholarship and ultimately a first round
pick for the Dallas Cowboys. But it's an inspiring story
and he's an inspiring young man for sure.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
And I love how the fact that no matter the loss,
no matter the wins, no matter Tyler Gouden struggling his
first couple of weeks and really throughout the season, he's
always positive, always uplifting those guys because he remembers, he's
very vocal about that he remembers that he was just
there at twenty twenty two. So I do love that
(06:56):
about Tyler Smith. But do y'all let me ask you something.
You feel like this offensive line, with the state of
where it's at right now and the amount that it's
approved the past couple of weeks, do you feel like
if Tyler Smith was out at left tackle and Zach
Martin still out, okay, still injured, do y'all feel like
(07:17):
this offensive line would be where it's at if Tyler
Smith was out at left tackle and you had somebody.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Else feel it at left guard.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
In your hype, that would be hypothetical. Yeah, in your
hypothetical this year.
Speaker 6 (07:31):
It would have been what a doga or mass right?
Speaker 2 (07:34):
So yeah, do y'all feel like this offensive line would
be where it's at right now?
Speaker 6 (07:38):
No?
Speaker 5 (07:39):
I think Tyler, I think it's better with when you
look at the way that they've been able to run,
the ways they're running the ball, it's a lot of
inside zone. They're using him to trap and do stuff
like you can do some of this stuff at tackle,
but what he's able to do at guard where they're
like pulling him behind the formation and stuff, he's special
he's an athlete. What he can do looping around and
(08:02):
coming downhill is really to like make contact with people.
It's not everyone can't do it. So being a tackle,
I think he would be fine. But you're like I
just mentioned, like your opponents are heavy, are strong in
the middle, so to get weaker in the middle, I
think it. I'm telling you, I'm serious, Like if you
go back and watch the Philly film, it would and
(08:24):
he got he got whooped a couple of times, but
he whopped them a couple of times, it would be
so much worse. But I'm just being straight up with you,
and we're gonna see it this week with with Washington.
They have a good interior too. He was drafted to
be able to beat those guys, and I think the
interior is where he plays his best ball. I think
we I think this is the best offer that the
(08:46):
way it's been orchestrated is probably your best flyver.
Speaker 7 (08:49):
I mean, I think he has position flex, But I
don't think you need to see it.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
We've seen it too much.
Speaker 7 (08:57):
He can do it, you just don't.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
You don't need to see it.
Speaker 7 (09:00):
Like if it ain't broke, don't fix it. That's that's
where I sit on that, and I will stay right there.
See that hill right there, I'm gonna buy property, I'm
gonna live there. I will die there. If it ain't broke,
don't fix it. But truly you need the strong interior,
to Ayosh's point, to be successful in this I guess
(09:21):
life you now have in the run game. And you know,
I also feel like the sense of consistency of just
having people in the same place if you can injuries,
you know, void from that conversation because they happen.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Yeah, you don't. You don't really need a mess with it.
Speaker 7 (09:35):
It's fine as it is.
Speaker 6 (09:36):
You're good. Totally agree, and especially especially to Ayesha's point
about the strength and division with the interior, the lines
that you go against.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
All right, we've got our practice repard. Do you want
to hear it? Yeah I do. I'll know this will
good one.
Speaker 7 (09:52):
Okay, I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
Already saw it and I went.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
Yeah, yeah, all right. Questionable?
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Well sorry, uh yeah, questionable chew my Dga, Mazzie Smith,
Nick Vigil, and Donovan Wilson.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Thoughts.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Let's start with Donnovan Wilson.
Speaker 5 (10:09):
Ain't nobody been marked out yet?
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Just keep on.
Speaker 6 (10:14):
I expect to see a lot of Juan Yer Thomas,
whether or not Donovan Wilson play. So Donovan didn't finish
the game last week with a knee injury that was
early in the fourth quarter, I believe, and so you know, no,
you know exactly what you have in Donovan Wilson.
Speaker 8 (10:30):
Juan Yer.
Speaker 6 (10:31):
It was his first game back since the Thanksgiving Day
knee injury that Wan Yer suffered. So I am happy
with giving this game to Wan Ye.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Any details on the Donald injury, Well, it was.
Speaker 6 (10:44):
A knee in the fourth quarter and the severity.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
But probably not because it's so late to see. Yeah, like, yeah,
it's it's his knee heart, that's it.
Speaker 6 (10:53):
It's the period. Yeah. But but the fact, but the
fact that it's questionable and not out. But it's one
of those things that, yeah, doubtful would be even worse
just out out as one hundred percent you're out doubtful
as if there's seventy five percent chance that you're out.
Questionable means you're literally fifty to fifty. Yeah, that's how
(11:13):
that's how the league, that's how it's listed, and every
team has to turn into practice report at the end
of practice Wednesday, and Thursday and then come with the
game status on Friday, so out doubtful, questionable. So anyway, again,
I I'd rather see wan Yer. Know what, I know
what I have in Donna?
Speaker 7 (11:34):
Yeah, for me personally, those names that you're you're talking
Mazzie jumps out to me because he has been on
a slow and steady uphill.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
And up climb.
Speaker 7 (11:44):
I'm sorry, but like, oh but like retweet what Christy
said about Donna, Like it is the last game, why
not see one Yer? Like we've been wanting to see
more wan Ye in this system and now with the
Michael Parsons back in and you know, things kind of
mean together for the defense, I do want to see
a little.
Speaker 3 (12:02):
More one Yer.
Speaker 7 (12:02):
So okay, I'll hold my comments about Manzi. Are you sure?
What do you have to say about Donna and Janie.
Speaker 5 (12:09):
Well Waye dealing with with PCO.
Speaker 7 (12:12):
Said way it was it was on Thanksgiving?
Speaker 6 (12:16):
Yes, but he was able to play last tek No.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
I saw him play.
Speaker 5 (12:20):
Yeah, I saw him play. I just I wanted to
make sure I understood what he was he's been going
through this season. Yeah, I mean again, like we're gonna
see I don't know who said I think Jordan Lewis
was like, the young guy's been playing, it's not I mean,
we've seen the depth of our team kind of stretched thin.
So I don't know if we're going to see a
whole bunch of new faces on the field for for
(12:40):
a Sunday's game. But yeah, it's just I expected for
this game for us to see some guys that maybe
we hadn't seen. Or so if him coming in and
uh into filling for Donald, I think we'll give us
an idea because I've been kind of, you know, we
have been asking for a little bit more of him.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
What's Juanya gotta prove.
Speaker 5 (12:57):
I don't know if he has to prove anything, but
it is important for him to do some to to
just play well, you know, talk about the coaching staff.
Waye is an undrafted free agent. He's always trying to
prove himself, I'm sure in his mind. So this will
give him a chance to get some real time reps
and see how things go.
Speaker 6 (13:16):
Yeah, and he hasn't gotten a lot of defensive snaps
in this system, so if Zimmer and Yeah, it has
been mostly special teams. So if he's able to get
some a lot of game time snaps, in the system.
If Zimmer in this defense are back next year, that
could be really valuable for wan.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
Ye Ye Smith.
Speaker 7 (13:32):
Now, thank you, Jess. It's no shape to wan Ye
Like wan Ye knows, I want to see more of him, Like,
come on, we all know that, I like to say,
jan yea.
Speaker 6 (13:44):
He has literally.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
Wan Ye the puns.
Speaker 6 (13:51):
About Mazi.
Speaker 7 (13:52):
Yeah, the confidence, it's been a silent confidence from him.
And that's what I really have enjoyed seeing is you see,
you saw a guy from training camp who just started
out deflated, like let's call it what it was, and
then he slowly started to grow a little bit despite
the shoulder and the back, and it got to the
point where, you know, we talked about it earlier in
this season. He had even told me like I'm sick
(14:13):
of people saying I'm depressed and I'm down and out,
like I'm fine.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
You know, it just takes time.
Speaker 7 (14:18):
And then since then, you've just you haven't heard about
Mozzi because he's been doing his job. He's been, you know,
doing what he can do with what he has given
the injuries back and forth on the line as well.
So for me, I'm just I really want to see
Mazzi's all in this last game, because again, to me,
(14:39):
where you end this season is kind of where you
start back up next season, and I really want him
to end it on a high note. Given if it's
for the best intention that he is out for the
game because of an injury, so be that too. But
I think for a guy like Mazzi, any kind of
confidence you can get from any kind of play goes
a long way and it is valuable.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
I mean, he know who he playing against. I mean,
Tyler Biodis is having one of the best seasons, arguably
the best season of his career, and.
Speaker 7 (15:08):
He enjoys it in Washington.
Speaker 6 (15:10):
He does.
Speaker 7 (15:10):
He enjoys playing in Washington. He plays for Dan and
we all know this all too well. They ride for
Dan over there.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
So yeah, yeah, no, I think more so, I was mentioning, like,
I think that the competition between those two is interesting
because they've seen each other in practices, they've seen each
other around so well. I think seeing that obviously you
mentioned Masi on an upward projectory, just and him playing
better than you have. Tyler Piotti's having his best years,
We'll get a real look see it. You know what
(15:39):
that looks like? Competition wise, and as far as Masi goes,
you just see more and I hope I'm okay. I
think his conditioning is better. I think the motor is better,
Like you see him the pursuits to the ball.
Speaker 7 (15:52):
What Tyler is afted as doubtful.
Speaker 6 (15:57):
He's been on the injury report.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
All good to know. Yeah, it's good to know when
they're not.
Speaker 6 (16:02):
Going to risk him going into the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (16:04):
Yeah, he's so maybe not going to see that. But
I do think with as far as Mazzi goes, I
think his his pursuit to the ball, his motor's been better.
He's a lot more patient. I think he's reading the
defense better. And I'm really hoping that he can continue
to grow going into next season. I really hope that
they invest in putting a veteran, another veteran out there
(16:28):
for him to learn, continue to learn that position and
to get better because the other guys around him are
paying dividends for his better play. Like OsO Digizua in
him probably likes when Elsa get paid. He might have
to look over it at the young end and say
thank you, I appreciate you because he really helped him
in taking on double teams also at the beginning of
the season was getting double teamed in almost fifty percent
(16:51):
of the snaps as Mazzi decided. As Mazzi began to
play better, people were like, Okay, we got to count
for this guy, and that's freed up the rest of
the gentleman on the defensive line.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
We don't talk about.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
You talk about the high motor for Massie and obviously
taking up double teams, but he's been making some run
stops as well, like just being able to bounce off
of tackles and play the run. I think that's been
something that's been really impressive.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
Do y'all feel like he.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
What area do you feel like Mozzie grew the most
in his one.
Speaker 5 (17:22):
His git off when he got here. When he got here,
his stance was these guys in college like those coaches
are different, they're coaching them different things. And his stance
and the way he was coming off the ball was
just not fast enough. He was so late that that's
why he was losing reps the way he was last year.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
This year he.
Speaker 5 (17:41):
Has he's firing off that ball using that explosiveness because
this is an athlete, he's an athlete. Seeing him pop
off the ball. That's probably the biggest difference that I've
seen in him. And even with that, not being late
to the punch has helped him be a better player
this year. So that little tweak has made him be
better here.
Speaker 6 (18:00):
Yeah, you're defeated. You're defeated if you are slow off
the ball, late on the snap.
Speaker 7 (18:05):
Basically what you got, I'm gonna go confidence. I know
that sounds very cliche, but man, guys, this is night
and day, and what I always refer back to is
Jonathan Hankins.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
We remember you so fondly.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
Okay, we remember you so fondly.
Speaker 7 (18:20):
He would talk a lot about how long it actually
takes to grow as a nose tackle in this league,
and not only grow your skill set from what you
learned in college to your point, but also the confidence
and understanding of what a true nose tackle is in
the NFL, because he always pointed out it's very different.
(18:41):
And so when I would ask him when he was
still here obviously what you know he needed to see
from Mazi or how long it even took him in
his own career and other nose tackles he'd been around,
to really grow, he said it took about three years.
So that's why I'm very interested in Mazzie's year three
because I think that's going to be one of the
(19:02):
most defining for him. But also the confidence building that
he has done personally and that this coaching staff I
think has poured into.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Making sure it is growing.
Speaker 7 (19:12):
Has really been night and day compared to where he
was at the beginning of the season.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
That takes mental fortitude. He and like it's it's training.
Can't feel so long far away, dude around the corner.
They coached him hard. They coached him hard, and it's
not easy for a player to beget in like and
again they're doing it because they see the potential on him.
They see it with like coach Sagina, I always want
(19:40):
to sell it wrong. Yes, my cream puffs, but no,
they have been I mean Greg Ellis, those guys came
in obviously, they knew the year he had last year,
and they knew they were gonna have to dig really
deep to pull him out of that and to restore
his confidence and to make him under help him understand.
And I feel like to take that on as just
(20:03):
was saying, to deal with taking hard coaching. I mean,
most coaches want to be coached hard, but the coaching
he was getting was it was also it was a
little a little more in a good way, but in
a little more And I think for him to take
that on, he's just done his job this year. He's
been real low key and you just see every week
the film's getting better. It says something to his character
(20:23):
and I agree, just I think that's a valid point
to mention the confidence in him being built and him
coming back from.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Now how much do you feel like Bringing in Linvald
Joseph also played a role in.
Speaker 6 (20:33):
That you have a veteran to you mean to have
a rotation you need.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
Because it was really only him and Justin roddis, Yeah,
you need.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
These guys are big guys, they're they're motors like you
might meet some nose tackles who have motors that are
higher than normal, but they're not. They shouldn't be on
the field the whole game. You have to have depth.
That's why the guy was defensive line and past years
was successful. So bringing in him. Bringing in Linval Joseph
of course gave Mazzi a little bit more breathing room
(21:02):
and I'm sure he's given him some tips and stuff
as well, sure.
Speaker 6 (21:05):
Yeah, Mazzi's at forty eight percent of snaps this year
and defensive snaps and that's a lot for defensive tables.
And you mentioned Justin Rodgers, and I'm glad that name
came up because I'm very interested to see if he
gets on the field this weekend. I think he will.
I know what I have in Linval Joseph. Yeah, now
Justin Rodgers. If that name sounds familiar. Yeah, he was
the seventh round pick, the rookie they but they waived
(21:27):
him at the end of camp. He ends up signing
with the Bengals. He's on their practice squad all year,
and then the Cowboys signed him off of the Bengals
practice squad a week and a half ago, so he
could have played last week. He's on the fifty three
men roster, but he was a game day in active
last week. I think that he's going to be active
this week. This is just an educated guest. Okay, but
(21:50):
this is a kid. They obviously liked him if they
drafted him. They bring him back for depth, They you know,
sign him back off of the Cincinnati practice squad. This
is the perfect kind of game. Give this kid some reps.
So that you know what you have in regular season action.
That I think that Troy Pride Junior, who's the cornerback
who's on the practice squad, educated guests, if you don't
(22:14):
sign him to fifty three man roster, elevate him from
the practice squad. I think he's going to play a
lot this game because I don't think we're going to
see more of Andrew Booth unless there's an emergency.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
As we're taking educated guess is what I'll think about Uceviine.
Speaker 7 (22:25):
I was gonna say educated guests, I'd say Delvin No, yeah, yeah,
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (22:31):
I would say guests.
Speaker 5 (22:32):
I would say less educated.
Speaker 7 (22:34):
It's more guess.
Speaker 6 (22:35):
But see, but Deuce is already on the fifty three
man roster, so Deuce has been a getting day inactive.
You don't have to elevate him. And even though it's
the last regular season game, the rules still apply and
that you can only elevate two players for the game.
So I think I think it'll be Pride, and I
think Will Greer is going to be elevated, and I
(22:57):
think Will Greer is going to back up Trey Lance
in this game.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
I think is gonna start. Wow. I Thinkler is gonna start. Okay, Scope,
Oh dang one, We're gonna take our first break planet.
I need you all to think about this. What's one
thing that the Cowboys can take away.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
From week twelve offensively against Washington, Okay, that they can
carry into Sunday.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Wait, don't procrastinate, Amanda, We do it right now. All right, Yeah,
back to my question before the break, what can the
Cowboys take offensively that they did well against Washington in
week twelve and carry that in two Sunday.
Speaker 6 (26:10):
They did a good job protecting the ball they I mean,
they had lost one fumble, but they won the turnover
battle in that game. And that was the game in
which Ceedee Lamb had the ten catches. I mean, overall,
it was a good good job in the air. In
the passing game. Jalen Brooks had a big catch in
that game. So I would think that that would be something.
(26:30):
You know, get the young receivers involved, and let's see
if Jalen Brooks can in the season on a high note.
Speaker 7 (26:36):
Good carryover I have forwards for you. Don't doubtle that man,
Rico doubtle that's what went well, that's what has continued
to go well. I want to continue to see a
little bit more of him in this final game because again,
he is going to be a free agent this upcoming
off season. So look, give that man a chance to
(26:59):
continue playing for a good contract deal, whether that that's
here or somewhere else. And I don't even want to
think about that, but it is a real possibility. I
want to continue to see a good run game in
this game.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (27:13):
Yeah, and mostly even if you do a one two
punch approach like we were talking about, you have a
Douce Vaughn, you have a Delvin Cook on the practice squad,
whatever the case is. I just want to see more
run game, specifically with Rico as your lead back.
Speaker 6 (27:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (27:25):
I mean they came out of if I'm not mistaken,
they had some aggression to them as well. I meant,
what thirty four points to that game, one of their
highest scoring games of the year.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
I'm not.
Speaker 5 (27:36):
I just feel like they had a plan that game.
It's one of the few games where I was like,
oh okay, Like you could tell that they put preparation
into what they wanted to do against Washington. They also
felt like they could take advantage of Washington's secondary as well,
Cooper rush and what two hundred and fifty four yards
fifty forty seven yards on the day, So they decided
(27:58):
to toss the ball around a little bit more as well.
I believe it was one of the more balanced games
we've had with run and pass you know, do.
Speaker 6 (28:05):
That do it again?
Speaker 3 (28:07):
Yeah, and special teams.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
You had Cavante Turpin who gave them a couple of
short fields. They didn't have to really drive down the field.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
I won't say all the.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
Time all the time, but no, I think that I
had to go back and look at my notes on
that game and the way that they bounce back to
the block field goal the first possession of the game,
Washington goes and scores with a field goal, and then
you see, obviously they weren't able to finish drives. However,
they were moving the ball very well. They led in
(28:35):
time of possession that was something that also stood out
as well.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
So that's something that I feel like they could carry over.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
But the tight ends, Luke scoon Maker had a big game.
They game, tell me talk about it. Yeah, we much
from these tight ends.
Speaker 7 (28:48):
Don't get me started. We're only we only have what
ten fifteen minutes off in this There's not enough time for.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Me to go into that. What do you all want
to see from the tight end? Room?
Speaker 5 (28:56):
More?
Speaker 6 (28:58):
Yeah, more opportunities, more and yeah, and especially if it's
not Cooper Rush, if if it's again, I think it's
going to be Trey Lance and maybe even some World Grier.
I think that the tight end is a safer throw generally,
and you know, let's use them.
Speaker 7 (29:14):
You're not crazy if it's Trey Lance and Will Gear.
Considering how the full circle came literally background, that is
kind of crazy. That's crazy.
Speaker 5 (29:23):
I mean, I was about to say, wasn't there another
player that went to it?
Speaker 3 (29:27):
Was Will Greer?
Speaker 5 (29:28):
You just mentioned justin Rogers the Bengals, there was another player.
I felt like, whore? Did Jabril Cox go at first?
Speaker 6 (29:37):
Jabril? I think it might have been Washington Washingtons.
Speaker 5 (29:42):
Let me just find out the Bengals over here paying attention.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
To the commanders are for sure.
Speaker 5 (29:49):
So there you go.
Speaker 7 (29:50):
My job is to answer more of your question about
the tight ends because.
Speaker 6 (29:54):
It was Washington Cox shocking, shocking, Oh Dan uh Batman.
Speaker 7 (30:04):
Now you want to see more, and to be fair,
the injuries and the offensive line struggles, yes you're gonna
see less of your tight end usage in the receiving game.
But look, I'm I hate to say I'm disappointed.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
I'm not mad, I'm disappointed.
Speaker 7 (30:20):
I'm very disappointed in the the amount of I guess
talk that we got this season and the lack of
action and getting the tight ends finally involved more given
Jake Ferguson has been dealing with a stretch of his
injuries throughout the course of the season, but I mean
truly like you're going into this offseason with the question
mark of really, who is your full tight end room
(30:43):
other than Jake Ferguson. Yes you have a Luke scoon Maker,
Yes you have a brev and span Ford, but truly,
like who's your number two? Like you still have so
many question marks. And so for me to my point
earlier about like ending the season on a high note,
this could be what gets your foot in the door
to get noticed is hey, maybe this guy gets a
(31:04):
little more reps come off season workouts or whatever the
case is. So I don't know, I just want to
see more.
Speaker 5 (31:11):
She'd being nice this tight end room is really you're
you're so kind. I mean, I just know, I'm not
sad you're I appreciate you being kind, but it's disappointing. No,
you're right, y'all. So I was like, let's say, with
your justice, there is been disappointed this type your tight ends,
if they're not if they're not prepared, it affects your
(31:33):
run game, it affects your pass game, and it just
hasn't been consistent enough, you know, outside of Jake Ferguson.
I'm sure in fairness it does put stress on Jake
Ferguson to be out there every play. The Cowboys have
found a lot of success in eleven personnel. With Jake
Ferguson out there, you are limited to your formations, to
(31:56):
the looks you can do, to the stuff you can
do when you're ends are not holding up the bargain.
And I do think that these guys, I will say,
with schoonmaker Breven span Fo there when when when ferk
first went out they did step up, but then as
soon as he got back, it was disappearing, disappearing again.
(32:16):
And I'm not saying like I will say too, it's
gonna be important for Mike McCarthy as well to figure
out how to to have a more of an emphasis
to include his tight ends, because I feel like when
he was at Green Bay he did. But here in
Dallas it has been very wide receiver driven, and you know,
(32:39):
and so for me, I'm like, how can we figure
out ways to I mean, we look at Philly, we
look at these others, these other teams, they use tight
end screens, They find creative ways they use their tight
ends to come trap as an extra blocker and slip
them in the through the formation and get big plays.
I mean, I'm just this room did disappoint me, and
you could have used them with the lack of receiving
(33:01):
that you if you had your tight ends be better,
it would have taken pressure off of your wide receivers
as well. So that room is definitely going to have
to look themselves in the mirror figured some things out.
There is room for development still from some of those guys,
but it has been a disappointing year.
Speaker 6 (33:15):
From them.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
You look, is this the game to do that?
Speaker 2 (33:18):
Because you look at how when they went into that
game in week twelve they were with four and seven,
pretty much nothing to lose at that point. Now no playoffs,
still nothing to lose at this point. Is that Is
this a game to really just say it?
Speaker 5 (33:31):
May try it? Probably, I mean, you don't. And with
Jake Ferguson, he's been dealing with obviously different things. We
definitely want to see him play. But if they tell
him to sit down, I ain't gonna be mad.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
Yeah, Like so we know.
Speaker 6 (33:46):
We know what we have, right, Yeah, it doesn't have
to prove I mean, I know that he would like
to end the season on a high note. It has
been a disappointing season for him and for the whole
wide receiver corps. But yeah, I'd rather see more of
Brevin span Ford and Luke scoten Maker needs to end
on a high note too, because a second round pick,
(34:07):
you need more for them from them two years into
their career.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
Yes, ma'am agrees, ma'am the point all right, we're gonna
take our second breaks.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
We have ten minutes left.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
In our show up next, we're gonna talk a little
bit more of Trey Lance because I feel that we
touched on it a little bit yesterday, but we got
to dive a little bit deeper into Trey Lance, possibly possibly.
Speaker 7 (34:26):
More to say absolutely it was slow.

Speaker 13 (37:25):
Then the Mario Nover shown got the ed Block Courage Award, yes,
which is for coming back from a very serious injury
the year before, and that's that's voted upon by staff
and peers.
Speaker 6 (37:38):
So that's a that's a really cool thing. It's actually
an award that all of the teams vote on, the
Ed Courage ed Block Courage Award, and then there's a
big banquet at the end of the year and it
honors the training staffs of the all the NFL teams
and so like the Cowboys staff was it two or
(37:59):
three years ago? They won for best training staff for
the entire league And anyway, it's a really it's a
really cool thing. And the Good Guy Award for Jordan
Lewis that's voted on by the local media members and
so it's accessibility and a guy like Jordan Lewis is
a guy that is in front of his locker and
(38:20):
answers every question, win, lose, draw, and gives really great
answers to not just sound bites, but but very thoughtful answers.
And you can learn a lot about the game if
you listen to Jordan Lewis.
Speaker 7 (38:34):
He's always at his locker with an iPad watching film.
And then you can go up to him and be like, hey,
Jlu do you have to talk. We'll always say us.
I've never seen Jordan Lewis turn down to anybody to
talk and to be honest.
Speaker 5 (38:46):
Like when I've talked to him my slight talking to
a cousin. Yeah, it's just like what's up, man like,
it's very down to earth, very and he'll teach. He's
taught me a lot about my film. He reassures my film,
he tells me where I'm where I'm getting some the
wrong and stuff. It's invaluable.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
That's a lot of these guys in the locker room.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
They're very, very helpful when it comes to teaching moments.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
For sure.
Speaker 2 (39:08):
Gotta love this locker room. They're great people. All right,
real fast, Trey Lance, I know I have to have.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
To start the pall a little bit. Chursy started it,
not me, all.
Speaker 6 (39:20):
Right, Yeah, I said, I think he's going to start,
and I think he's going to play a lot whether
he starts or not. And I'll tell you what I
want to see from Trey Lance. And it's the same
thing that I said before the final preseason game where
we knew he was going to play the whole game,
and that is at the end of the day, I
want him to not lead the team in rushing because
(39:45):
I want him to, you know, go through his reads
and have enough time, enough good pass protection, have the
receivers run good enough routes, and give you know, enough
of a window that he's throwing the ball and not
tucking the ball and running with him.
Speaker 7 (39:59):
That's so fair.
Speaker 6 (40:00):
That's that's what I want to see from Tree Lance.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
No, I don't want to see what.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
I don't want to see five interceptions.
Speaker 6 (40:06):
Yeah, as if and what happened in that preseason game.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
I did not want to see it. Granted it was
a different offensive line.
Speaker 6 (40:12):
Different offensive line and the receivers that are no longer
with the team.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
So absolutely, do y'all have confidence though we talked about
the stakes that are high for all the quarterbacks yesterday,
But I want to know about the confidence level that
y'all have in Trey Lance because he hasn't played a
lot of snaps.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
You've seen it in the preseason.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
Completely different skilled players that he had running back, just
different weapons that he had to use.
Speaker 3 (40:39):
Where's the confidence level in him.
Speaker 6 (40:41):
Hey, if I'm, as a former teacher, the greatest I incomplete.
Speaker 5 (40:46):
Do we have to go from?
Speaker 6 (40:47):
Yeah, confidence comes from demonstrated ability, and he really hasn't
other than that extended play in preseason, that game with
the five interceptions. Confidence comes from demonstrated ability, and we
haven't seen it yet because you know, the kid hasn't
played in a regular season game since Week two of
twenty twenty two when he broke his ankle.
Speaker 5 (41:06):
I'm circling to see them. I'm circling to see down
my scandrin.
Speaker 3 (41:11):
The see well the sea was on the skins.
Speaker 5 (41:13):
Now, they used to say that just douce when you
didn't know.
Speaker 2 (41:15):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, stop, I don't remember that.
Speaker 6 (41:18):
Statistically, no wonder I didn't do well.
Speaker 5 (41:25):
Seriously, I'm the same way. I'm the same way. I
wish I had knew more information about him. Yeah, I mean,
I hate I hate that we have to talk about
him like this. I hate that we have to talk
and now we got to do it.
Speaker 6 (41:38):
But I hate like that.
Speaker 5 (41:39):
I don't know. I love evaluating and I can't and so,
and that's why it's the frustrating thing about the film.
So I agree with you, Christy, I do want to
see him stand in the pocket and throw the ball
around more. I don't want to just take away his
running a billy all the way around. But that's the
part that you want him to improve on. So my
confidence love is like a I don't, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (42:01):
We just hear what I will say.
Speaker 7 (42:03):
What you guys is if he is set up for success,
it's on him, like it's if he has his good
run game going. Tight ends are involved. You're wide receivers
who he should have been getting snaps with pretty much
this whole season, you know, because he's taking those second snaps.
(42:23):
Now that Cooper Rush is in for Dak right, he's
been getting more of those practice snaps, which Christy always
talks about being just so valuable but also so limited.
You've had the connection with those receivers, You've had the
connections with those tight ends. You've had the connection, you know,
potentially with some of these guys you could see on
the offensive line. So for me, what she put out
(42:47):
there is kind of what you are at this point,
Like if he set up for success, which he should be,
we'll see. I don't there's no confidence level because we
don't know. It's a big question mark.
Speaker 6 (43:03):
What do you want to see from him, Nicole.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
I said, what I don't want to see. What I
do want to see is him for him to just
go out there and ball the hell out because carefully,
he hasn't been given a lot of opportunity in the
regular season to show what he can do. We've seen
his mobility, the way that he's able to throw the ball,
(43:30):
and the preseason he had a hell of a training camp.
I want him to go out there and just just
play that play like there's nothing at stake. I know
that's kind of hard for these guys, specifically that are
on contracts, but you have nothing to lose at this point.
Just go out there, show what you can do. If
you don't get picked up by the Cowboys again next year,
hopefully he plays well enough to get picked up by
(43:50):
somebody else.
Speaker 3 (43:51):
That's all I care about.
Speaker 7 (43:52):
And to that point, this could if he is starting,
We don't know. I would like to breaface that again.
We don't know. This could be what determines what happens
for him next because there's not a lot of films
any for people to go off of. This could be
what determines next steps for his career.
Speaker 4 (44:09):
Whether that's here, there.
Speaker 7 (44:11):
Anywhere, I don't know. And yeah, it's hard not to
play with that kind of weighing on your shoulders. But hell,
use it as fuel. Use it as fuel to have
the best.
Speaker 3 (44:21):
Game of your career.
Speaker 7 (44:22):
Because it's been a long time coming for him to
get an opportunity. So I feel like if it comes
like he's gonna either utilize it to the best he
can or you just kind of see how he handles pressure.
Speaker 6 (44:32):
Yeah, and he's not the only one that this could be.
Speaker 5 (44:36):
Absolutely, Yeah, this.
Speaker 6 (44:37):
Can determine your career. It is this one game. So
these people who say, ah, they're not playing for anything,
it's I that's God now me. It's the same thing
as preseason. And Tyler Smith said something the other day
yesterday when he was talking about the Pro Bowl. But
he said that Brandon Cooks talk to the team this
week about respecting the game. Yeah, and meaning it is
(45:01):
all out. Whether you are a tenure veteran, whether you
are a guy like Trey Lance literally playing for your career,
or you know a guy like Micah who of course
is going to have a wonderful career moving forward. Respect
for the game, and it's the number one thing. So
(45:21):
I hope that fans and media show the same amount
of respect. I love that.
Speaker 5 (45:26):
I love that's because it's it's it's been difficult, like
with the season being the way that it's been is
to remind people, which is ironic by the way, yes,
I'm looking at the camera, that these are human beings
who have lives, who have to provide for themselves, to
have aspirations, that have set goals for themselves in this career,
(45:47):
their careers, to remind them like, hey, they're playing for
more than your appeasement.
Speaker 6 (45:52):
Yeah. And the coaches too, every coach on this staff
this could be their very last game with the Cowboys.
And by the way, their kids or older than the
kids of the players, they're in school, true and.
Speaker 3 (46:04):
Talk about it.
Speaker 6 (46:05):
This is this is an important game, and not to.
Speaker 7 (46:10):
Mention it's not like Washington is just some easy feet
games and they trying to win.
Speaker 4 (46:15):
They are whether and and you know what, they're going
to try to.
Speaker 7 (46:18):
Stay healthy and who honestly wants to go into the
playoffs losing their last regular season game.
Speaker 6 (46:24):
And also if you're not and if you're the seventh seed,
good luck have fun going to Minnesota or Detroit.
Speaker 7 (46:30):
Good luck exactly. They still have something to play for.
So it's not just an easy feat. Even if so
Trey or any of the other guys playing. If you
win this game, it does more.
Speaker 3 (46:43):
Than you think it does.
Speaker 6 (46:44):
I can't leave the house.
Speaker 5 (46:48):
I can't.
Speaker 7 (46:50):
It's fun to watch. Go ahead, we.
Speaker 3 (46:53):
Don't one, two, three first? You I went first yesterday? Nope?
Speaker 7 (47:01):
Are you sha those?
Speaker 8 (47:04):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (47:05):
My hands is like tucked like I put my hands
down here.
Speaker 3 (47:08):
Y'all wrong? That's why what's the what's the topic game?
It could be? It could be Cowboys or Washington? All right,
bull statement.
Speaker 5 (47:19):
I already said it already. I think Brandon Aubrey's gonna
cook a kick his seventy year old that I did
the steal. That's a good one. Okay, okay, If I
remember that Washington game correctly, Josh Butler had a big game.
Speaker 3 (47:37):
That was his breakout game. Let the team tackles.
Speaker 5 (47:39):
Let's just say, ye, Thomas has a really good game
and put in and maybe has an interception or does
something that stands out like that.
Speaker 3 (47:48):
There you go, we listen, and we don't judge that way.
Speaker 7 (47:55):
All right, Well, since we were just talking about tight ends.
I'm gonna say, okay, that Brevin span Ford has a
very productive game. Best is a Dallas Cowboy, and he
sets the tone for what is hopefully to come for
him in the off season and next year.
Speaker 5 (48:12):
I like that on the highest paid undrafted free agents
in the NFL coming out of the draft, Cowboys do
have expectations for him. So this would be a good
game for him to It would be nice.
Speaker 4 (48:25):
We listen, we don't judge.
Speaker 6 (48:28):
I think Brandon Aubrey's gonna it's gonna be from sixty
eight yards directly at midfield, right in the middle of
the Star logo at the fifty yard line, which means
it's eight yards back on the snap plus the ten
yards for the end zone. So a sixty eight yard he's.
Speaker 5 (48:45):
Gonna do it like that's gotta have. We'll do it
to finish the season.
Speaker 7 (48:49):
Just do it.
Speaker 6 (48:49):
He can do it.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
You're gonna be indoors.
Speaker 5 (48:51):
You can set the doors, you set the tone.
Speaker 6 (48:53):
Yeah, Hey, I say, if it's second down and you're
at the fifty, do it.
Speaker 3 (48:57):
Just wanted to do it.
Speaker 5 (48:58):
But y'all know, y'all know is crazy. He has spoiled
us because I was watching I was watching a college game.
They got past the they got past the fifty. I
was like, y'all punt like they got stopped and I
was like, oh, whoa, whoa, you You're you're talking real
privilege right now.
Speaker 6 (49:15):
And you don't look at like with the Eagles with
Jake Elliott. I mean, there's there's some of these NFL
teams going into the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (49:23):
He's special. He's special. Very wish you had a butter
what you got. I actually kind of like that.
Speaker 5 (49:30):
List, and we don't jush.
Speaker 3 (49:34):
What I say. Trey Lance, he's gonna throw.
Speaker 2 (49:41):
Oh, I'm gonna say the first or second drive of
the game, a thirty five yard catch and run a
Cavante turp before a touchdown.
Speaker 7 (49:53):
If that happens, I'm officially saying you have the script.
Speaker 4 (49:57):
Officially, I mean, yeah, correct.
Speaker 5 (50:01):
Washington like to play single high.
Speaker 6 (50:03):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (50:03):
There's not that many people in the NFL that haven't
come fast enough to deal with Cavante Turpin one on
one in the in the on the open field. And
I think he can do it.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
So I like that, all right?
Speaker 6 (50:16):
Yeah, yeah, And Party said he's the most fluid athlete
that turpens the most fluid athlete he's coached.
Speaker 7 (50:22):
I mean, it's the gymnastics back.
Speaker 3 (50:24):
Probably just be fun.
Speaker 2 (50:27):
Cowboys Commanders kick off at twelve noon on Sunday. Be
there or be square, because if you're not well, that sucks.
Speaker 3 (50:32):
So sorry to say sorry.
Speaker 2 (50:35):
Worsen, Jessein rs Chrissy Scales, i'mn collect just in and
we'll be back here next week.
Speaker 6 (50:39):
We started off season schedule.
Speaker 7 (50:42):
Yeah, we'll see you on Tuesday next week.
Speaker 1 (50:45):
